Define Liners
Liner support in RS2 can represent a wide variety of different support types, as summarized in the Liner Overview topic. Liner properties are entered in the Define Liner Properties dialog.
For modeling purposes, there are four different liner types defined in RS2 - standard beam, reinforced concrete, geosynthetic and cable truss.
To define liner properties:
- Select Define Liners
from the toolbar or the Properties menu.
- Select the Liner Type:
- Enter the properties for the selected Liner Type.
Note: The properties can be staged by assign a stage factor. See the Stage Liner Properties for details. - If your model considers thermal analysis (enable Thermal Analysis from the Project Settings menu), a Thermal section will appear in the Define Liner Properties dialog. It is optional to include thermal properties for liners. Select the checkbox to Activate Thermal, available parameters are dependent on the involved thermal method(s), as described below.
- For the Static Temperature thermal method, the Static Temperature and Thermal Expansion values for the liner can be specified. The Static Temperature can be defined as a Constant or a Grid (temperature girds can be entered in Temperature Grid from the Thermal menu).
- For the Steady Thermal FEA method, the Thermal Conductivity and Thermal Expansion values can be specified.
- For the Transient Thermal FEA method, the Thermal Conductivity, Specific Heat Capacity, and Thermal Expansion values can be specified.
- For the Static Temperature thermal method, the Static Temperature and Thermal Expansion values for the liner can be specified. The Static Temperature can be defined as a Constant or a Grid (temperature girds can be entered in Temperature Grid from the Thermal menu).
See the above links for details about the various liner types and properties.
For a quick summary of the different liner types see the Liner Type Overview topic.
