Joint Shear
If a bolt crosses a joint boundary, any movement along the joint boundary will generate forces in the bolt, due to the interaction of the bolt and joint. Joint movement may create axial and/or shear forces in the bolt, depending on the orientation of the bolt with respect to the joint.
In the Define Bolt Properties dialog, the Joint Shear option allows you to account for bolt-joint interaction for the following bolt types:
If the Joint Shear check box is selected, then RS2 will account for bolt-joint interaction. By default this option is turned on. If you do not wish to consider bolt-joint interaction, then clear the Joint Shear check box. In this case, bolts which cross joints will not be affected by joint movement.

Note: bolt-joint interaction is not accounted for with the End Anchored bolt model, since an end-anchored bolt in RS2 only interacts with the model through the bolt endpoints.
