Traverses
Traverses are lines or surfaces of known orientation on which joint/discontinuity data has been collected. Traverses are defined in the Orientation Data dialog.
Visibility
When a Traverse is added, it appears under the Traverses group in the Visibility tree.
- To toggle on/off visibility of all Traverses, click on the Visibility
icon beside the group. - To toggle on/off visibility of individual Traverses, click on the Visibility
icon beside each Traverse.
Properties
The following options are available in the Properties pane:
- Name
- Traverse Type
- Edit Traverse
- Show Label
- Show All Points (applicable to Curved Borehole traverse types only)
- Show Blind Zone (applicable to Linear and Curved Borehole traverse types only)
Show All Points
Linear boreholes can be represented by a single vector direction, whereas curved boreholes are oriented in a range of directions. The Show All Points option when selected, plots all segment orientations.
Blind Zone
The Show Blind Zone option plots a cone with its center at the borehole's Trend/Plunge orientation and a cone angle of 90 degree - Minimum Bias Angle (set in the Weighting Options dialog). Any regions outside of this represent blind spots in drilling since boreholes cannot intersect planes which are parallel or near parallel to the direction of drilling.
