Contour Options
The Contour Options dialog contains a variety of options for customizing the display of contours on the Stereonet:
- Custom Range
- Colors
- Contour Rendering
To access Contour Options:
- Select Presets > Contour > Contour Options
from the Stereonet 2D or Stereonet 3D ribbon.
Contour Options is also available in the Contours entity's Properties pane.
Custom Range
By default, the contour range is automatically determined.
To customize the Contour Range:
- Select the Custom Range checkbox.
- Enter the desired Minimum and Maximum values.
Colours
The Color Table Method options determine how the contour colours will be generated.
- The Interpolate methods use interpolation to determine the contour colors between the Minimum and Maximum colors. The Interpolation Methods are briefly described below.
- The Custom option allows you to define a custom color for each contour interval.
HSL SATURATED
HSL Saturated colours are defined in terms of hue, and luminance components, with full saturation.
HSL ACUTE
HSL Acute colours are defined in terms of hue, saturation, and luminance components. The Acute method interpolates using the acute angle between the minimum and maximum colours on the "colour wheel".
HSL OBTUSE
HSL Obtuse colours are defined in terms of hue, saturation, and luminance components. The Obtuse Method interpolates using the obtuse angle between the minimum and maximum colours on the "colour wheel".
RGB LINEAR
RGB Linear colours are defined in terms of red, green, and blue components.
CUSTOM
If you select the Custom option, you must define a custom Color for each contour Interval. The Interval Count is automatically set equal to the number of custom colors.
To define Custom Interval Colors:
- Select the Customize button.
- In the Custom Colors dialog:
- Select the Add Row
button and select a color. - To delete an entry, select an Interval and select the Delete
button. - To change the colour of an entry, click the Color swatch and select a new color.
- Click OK to save the custom colours and close the dialog.
To customize the colors for Interpolation:
- Select the desired Minimum color from the dropdown.
- Select the desired Maximum color from the dropdown.
The default Interval Count is 10. You may enter any number between 2 and 50.
Contour Rendering
There are three Mode options:
- Filled – displays the contours as filled regions
- Lines – displays the contour lines only
- Filled with Lines – displays both filled regions and lines.
The Fill Value Less Than Minimum option, if checked automatically fills the contour with the Min Colour if the density value is less than the Min Contour Range. Otherwise, it is left unfilled.
The Fill Value Greater Than Maximum option, if checked automatically fills the contour with the Max Colour if the density value exceeds the Max Contour Range. Otherwise, it is left unfilled.
