Weighting Options
Weighting can be applied to account for the sampling bias introduced by orientation data collection along Traverses.
The following views are affected by weighting:
- Stereonet 2D
- Stereonet 3D
- Rosette
- Joint Frequency
- Kinematic Sensitivity
- Histogram
- Cumulative
- Scatter
To apply or remove the Weighting:
- Select the Weighting > Apply Weighting
toggle button in the appropriate contextual ribbon (i.e., Stereonet 2D, Stereonet 3D, Rosette, Chart).
To edit the weighting options:
- Select Weighting > Weighting Options
from the Analysis ribbon. - Enter the Minimum Bias Angle.
- Click OK.
Minimum Bias Angle
The Minimum Bias Angle is actually a limit used by the Terzaghi correction, to prevent the weighting factor from becoming excessively large. It is set to a default value of 15 degrees. The maximum possible weighting factor corresponds to the Minimum Bias Angle. Any planes which intersect a Traverse orientation at an angle less than the Minimum Bias Angle will be limited to the maximum weighting factor. The Minimum Bias Angle must be greater than 0 and less than 90 degrees.
