Spot Mapping
A Spot Mapping Traverse Type can represent any collection or grouping of orientation data collected at discrete points.
Data Orientation Convention
The Data Orientation Convention refers to the orientation format of the data collected on a Traverse. For each Spot Mapping discontinuity, the orientation format of the data you enter in the first two columns of the Discontinuities grid (in the Orientation Data dialog), must correspond to the Data Orientation Convention selected.
The following Data Orientation Convention are available:
- Dip/Dip Direction
- Strike(Right)/Dip
- Strike(Left)/Dip
- Trend/Plunge
The Data Orientation Convention option allows you to specify the orientation format for individual Traverses. This allows you to combine different data formats within the same DIPS file.
If the Data Orientation Convention is different from the Reporting Orientation (entered in Project Settings), the raw input orientations will be automatically converted to the equivalent Reporting Orientation.
