Import ShapeMetriX File

The Import ShapeMetriX File option allows users to import custom files created by 3GSM ShapeMetriX with a *.3gdps file extension. These files contain joint information such as dip, dip direction, location, and persistence, and allow users to append ShapeMetriX data to a Dips project.

To import a ShapeMetriX file:

  1. In the Dips program, select File > Import > Import ShapeMetriX File from the menu, or Analysis > Import ShapeMetriX import shapemetrix from the Home ribbon.
  2. Select the *.3gdps file(s) containing your ShapeMetriX information.
  3. Click Open.
When importing ShapeMetriX files, each file is imported as a separate data set in the Orientation Data dialog and appended to existing poles data. When opening a ShapeMetriX file, the file is opened in a new Dips project.
