Edit Tool

Tools which have been added to a view can be formatted, moved, resized, edited, deleted, copied, hidden or displayed using the following options:

  • Properties
  • Visibility
  • Edit Tool
  • Copy Tool
  • Delete Tool

These options are available in the Visibility tree/Properties pane, Tools ribbon and/or in the right-click menu.

Selection

Tools support two-way selection between the Visibility tree or graphically, by left-clicking in the Stereonet 2D or Rosette view. When a tool is selected, you will see:

  • The tool is drawn with a bold halo effect
  • The corresponding item in the Visibility tree is selected, and
  • The Properties pane will update to reflect the selection.

Visibility

In the Visibility tree, tool visibility can be turned on or off at any time using the Tools visibility toggle (to turn all tools on or off) or sub-visibility toggles (to turn individual tool types on or off).

Properties

Tool properties can be configured in the Properties pane when you select an individual tool from the Visibility tree or graphically, by left-clicking in the Stereonet 2D or Rosette view.

Depending on the tool type, various properties are displayed and can be quickly edited in the Properties pane:

  • Name (read-only)
  • Text Color
  • Horizontal Alignment
  • Font Name
  • Font Size
  • Line Color
  • Line Width
  • Apply Fill
  • Fill Color

Edit Tool

Tools editing mode can be activated either from Edit Tools button in the Properties pane, Annotations > Edit Tools in the Tools ribbon and/or Edit Tool in the right-click menu. When a tool is being edited, you will see:

  • The tool is drawn with red dashed lines and control point handles
  • The edit dialog is shown, allowing for full tool formatting customization

While in this mode, you can edit as follows:

  • Tool Properties – the tool properties (e.g. colour, line format, fill format) can be customized in the dialog
  • Re-size – you can click and drag the control points to re-size the Tool (if applicable)
  • Move – you can click and drag the center point to translate the entire Tool to a new location (if applicable)
  • Delete – you can delete the selected tool by pressing Delete on the keyboard

Right-Click

If you right-click on a Drawing Tool, you will see a popup menu with applicable options for the tool. Standard options for most tools include:

  • Edit
  • Delete
  • Copy
Tools added are view-specific. Changes to visibility and properties can be restored by Undo/Redo and persist in the project file upon File Save.
