External Geometry Overview

The External Volume as defined in RS3 encompasses the extents of all model geometry that you wish to analyze.

The External Volume must be defined for every model, otherwise the Compute option will be disabled.

Terminology

In the RS3 documentation, the External Volume may also be referred to as External Boundary or External Geometry.

Create External Volume

There are various options available to create the External Volume, including:

Edit External Volume

You cannot directly edit the External Volume once it has been created, except for the use of the Divide All Geometry or Un-Divide All Geometry tools. To delete or edit External Geometry you must either Undo your changes or use Clear External and then edit the geometry.
