Define Dynamic Boundary Conditions
Dynamic (time-dependent) boundary conditions on boundaries (vertices, edges and faces) can be defined as follows.
Project Settings
Ensure that the Dynamic Analysis checkbox is enabled in Project Settings and enter the dynamic setup parameters.
Add Dynamic Boundary Condition
To define dynamic loads on boundaries:
- Select the Dynamic workflow tab
- Select Define Dynamic Boundary Conditions from the toolbar or the Dynamic menu.
- You will see the Dynamic BC Properties dialog. To edit an existing boundary condition click on the boundary condition name in the list at the left of the dialog. To define a new boundary condition select the Add button. To delete a boundary condition, select the Delete button. You may enter or edit the boundary condition name or use the default name (e.g. Dynamic BC 1).
- Select the boundary condition Type. There are six possible types:
- None (i.e. remove boundary condition)
- Absorb
- Transmit
- Damper (enter damper values in the X and Y directions)
- Nodal Mass (enter a mass value)
- Hydro Mass
- Select OK in the Dynamic BC Properties dialog to save the dynamic boundary condition(s).
After defining dynamic boundary condition, they can be applied to the model with the Add Dynamic Boundary Conditions option.
