Natural Frequencies
Obtain the natural frequencies of a system within a given frequency range using the Natural Frequencies options. The obtained natural frequencies can be used to refine the Rayleigh damping parameters to the desired damping for the model.
To compute the natural frequencies:
- Select the Dynamic
workflow tab.
- Select Compute Natural Frequencies option from the Natural Frequencies submenu in the Dynamics Menu.
- Set the minimum and maximum frequency values and select Compute.
- After the natural frequencies are computed, select View results to view the computed frequencies.
- In the Natural Frequencies Results - Rayleigh Damping dialog, you can modify the alpha and beta values to obtain the desired damping for these frequencies.
- If you would like to apply the alpha and beta values to the model, select Apply alpha/beta to Project Settings.
- After you have computed the natural frequencies for the model at least once, you can select View results to view the natural frequencies at any time unless you have changed the model parameters.
