Folds Overview

The Fold Analysis option allows you to fit a plane through any selected group of poles.

Best Fit Statistics

The statistics of the fold analysis plane are based on the paper by Woodcock and Naylor (1983).

Visibility

When a Fold Window is added, it appears under the Fold Windows group in the Visibility tree.

• To toggle on/off visibility of all Fold Windows, click on the Visibility icon beside the group.
• To toggle on/off visibility of individual Fold Windows, click on the Visibility icon beside each Fold Window.

A corresponding Best Fit Fold Plane also appears under the Best Fit Fold Planes group in the Visibility tree.

• To toggle on/off visibility of all Best Fit Fold Planes, click on the Visibility icon beside the group.
• To toggle on/off visibility of individual Best Fit Fold Planes, click on the Visibility icon beside each Best Fit Fold Plane.

Properties

The following options are available in the Fold Window Properties pane:

• Name
• Color
• Edit Fold

The following options are available in the Best Fit Fold Plane Properties pane:

• Color
• Show Plane
• Show Axis
• Show Plane Label
• Show Axis Label
• Show Marker Ticks

Import and Export Folds

Folds can be imported or exported using the Import and Export buttons in the Visibility tree beside the Fold Windows group. Dips Folds files have a .foldsdips extension.
