Pole Data Grid View Overview
The Pole Data Grid view is the main view of Dips, containing the entire list of processed poles. Only one Pole Data Grid view may be displayed per project.
The entire grid is read-only. This data is processed from the raw inputs from the Orientation Data dialog into a consistent reporting format for Orientation and Units which allows for:
- Raw input data to be of mixed orientation and unit formats. The user does not need to preprocess their data before importing into Dips, allowing for a smoother workflow with fewer conversion mistakes and the persistence of original data.
- Clearer interpretation of data (i.e., it is clear whether the orientation is Trend/Plunge or Dip/Dip Direction)
- Meaningful post-processing of data (i.e., sorting or filtering data magnitudes where the units do not have any real meaning)
This is a departure from legacy Dips where the main grid used to serve as the primary data input source. In the current version of Dips, all orientation data which represent pole data are input in the Orientation Data dialog.
Data Columns
Columns displayed in the Pole Data Grid consist of all predefined and extra columns merged and rows appended from all Orientation Data datasets' Discontinuities grids. See the Data Columns topic for more information.
Column Options
Several column options exist for the Pole Data Grid to sort, reorder, group columns, etc. See the Column Options topic for more information.
