Zoom, Pan and Rotate

The model can be zoomed/panned/rotated in the model Viewports in various ways. These options are available:

  • at the left edge of each Viewport
  • through various keyboard and mouse shortcuts
  • and in the right-click menu as described below.
In general, the mouse wheel is the quickest way to zoom, pan or rotate. You can zoom in/out by rotating the mouse wheel forward/backward. You can rotate by clicking and dragging the mouse wheel. You can pan by clicking and dragging the mouse wheel with the Ctrl key held down.

Zoom

The Zoom Zoom Magnifying Glass Icon option zooms in or out of the original view area in the current Viewport. Select the icon from the current Viewport. Click and drag the mouse up to zoom in and down to zoom out. Without selecting the icon, you can also rotate the mouse wheel forwards to zoom in or backwards to zoom out. Also available from the right-click menu by selecting Zoom Mouse.

Zoom Fit

The Zoom Fit Zoom Fit Icon option resets the model to its default size and location in the current Viewport. To Zoom Fit all views simultaneously you can press the F2 function key or select Zoom Fit All Zoom Fit All Magnifying Glass Icon from the right-click menu or View menu.

Zoom Window

The Zoom Window Zoom Window Magnifying Glass Icon option allows you to zoom into any rectangular region of the current Viewport. Select the icon from the current Viewport. Click and drag the mouse to draw a zoom region. When you release the mouse the model view will be zoomed to fit the drawn window size. Also available from the right-click menu.

Pan

The Pan Pan Icon option allows you to move the model in any direction within the current Viewport. Select the icon from the Viewport and pan by clicking and dragging the mouse. You can also click and drag the mouse wheel while holding the Ctrl key to pan. Also available from the right-click menu.

Rotate

The Rotate Rotate Icon option allows you to rotate the model within the current Viewport. Select the icon from the Viewport and rotate by clicking and dragging the mouse. You can also click and drag the mouse wheel to rotate. Only applicable for views in which rotation is enabled (by default the top-right view).

Reset View

The Reset View option in the right-click menu will reset rotation and zoom to the default viewing angle and size. Only applicable for the top-right view.

Exit Zoom Pan Rotate

To exit any of the above modes right-click and select Finish Finish Button with Blue Checkmark .

Right-Click Menus

The Zoom and Pan options are also available in the default right-click menu.
