Complementary Analyses

When conducting a Nonlinear analysis, users have the option to perform simultaneous complementary analyses along with their primary analysis.

  • When conducting a Nonlinear analysis using the lumped mass model, users can also obtain site response results using the Equivalent Linear method. This can be done by selecting Complementary analyses > Equivalent Linear – Frequency Domain.
  • When conducting a finite element–based effective stress analysis with Generate Pore Water Pressure selected, users can also perform a complementary Nonlinear Time Domain – Total Stress analysis using the lumped mass model.
It is highly recommended that Equivalent Linear results always be examined whenever a Nonlinear analysis using the lumped mass model is conducted. It is also highly recommended that a Nonlinear Time Domain – Total Stress analysis using the lumped mass model be conducted with every finite element–based effective stress analysis.

Analysis tag

Analysis tags are identifiers that are included in the analysis results to help users identify the kind of soil model analysis that RSSeismic performed. The table below summarizes all the available options. You can also view this table in RRSeismic by clicking on the Info icon next to the Analysis tag ID.
