Time Domain (Finite Element)
For a time domain, Finite Elements analysis, the options are:
- Timestep reduction factor
The timestep reduction factor is used as a multiplier to the estimated critical timestep using the CFL condition and is set by default to 0.9. For analyses where large strains are expected, as well as low effective stresses, it is recommended to be reduced to at least 0.7 to prevent the model from becoming numerically unstable.
