Overview - Data Templates
Creating different workflows is handled by 'Data Templates' on the Settings page. Each data template is a collection of customizable settings that determines how a project data is collected in the field, stored in the database, and presented on the logs.
To customize or create a new data template:
- Go to the left-hand navigation menu and select Settings,
- Use the dropdown at the top-left of the page to select an existing data template,
- Use the toolbar next to the dropdown to create, copy, rename or delete a data template,
- To share data template with another RSLog account use the import/export buttons,
- Use the Global Settings button to customize the general settings that are not data template related.

Customizing a Data Template
When a data template is selected from the list -either an existing, or copied template- its settings can be customized in the following tabs:
- Data Entry tab: offers customization of the extra tags, quality management, list of formations and user-defined lab tests,
- Rock Classification tab: offers customization of the rock types and specific rock properties (e.g. weathering, defect characteristics, etc.),
- Soil Classification tab: offers customization of the soil properties (e.g. plasticity, particle size, etc.),
- Field Investigation tab: offers customization of the drilling methods, sample types, field tests, etc.,
- Engine tab: offers customization of the lithology compiler, handling special cases when generating borehole log, and calculation of SPT refusals,
- Hatch Design tab: offers customization of the soil and rock hatch patterns used in the borehole logs.
Global Settings
Use this feature to edit general RSLog settings that are unrelated to a specific data template such as default coordinate system for a new project, or page layout for a new log template and the marker icons used on the maps.
