Submerged Stiff Clay

The following material properties need to be defined for the p-y curves to be created (Reese, et al., 1975):

  • Strain Factor (E50) - strain corresponding to 1/2 the maximum principal stress difference. Typical values are provided below.
  • Undrained Shear Strength
  • ks - refer to the theory manual for further description (typical values provided in the table below)

The diameter of the pile and depth into the soil has a direct impact as well. See the Lateral Pile Theory Manual for more information.
