Rolled Section
The Rolled Section cross section allows you to choose from common sections found in our Reinforcement Database. The following input parameters are required for defining a Rolled Section:
- Type of Rolled Section - users can select from a library of predefined piles.
- Pile Perimeter for Skin Friction - This is the perimeter that will be used for the skin friction capacity computations. The two options are Section Perimeter and Box Perimeter.
- Tip Area for End Bearing - This is the bottom area of the pile that will be used for end bearing capacity calculations. The three options are Section Area, Box Area, and User Select.
Rolled Section Types
If you are using the Rolled Sections pile section type, a database of common rolled section types are available to assist with the input of pile properties. The default database contains entries for:
- I-Beam
- Hollow Section
To access the database of Rolled Section Types:
- In the Define Pile Section Properties dialog, select Cross Section = Rolled Section.
- Next to Type of Rolled Section, click Select to open the Driven Rolled Sections dialog.
- This dialog allows you to choose a reinforcement type. Use the selection boxes to choose the pile section attributes:
- Shape
- Type (depends on Shape)
- Designation
- Metric or Imperial
- As you make your selections, the following properties will be automatically displayed in the dialog:
- Depth
- Width
- Area
- When you have finished choosing the type of rolled section and its attributes, click OK and the properties will be automatically loaded into the Define Pile Section Properties dialog.
