Reinforced Concrete
The reinforced concrete type can be used with either the Circle or Rectangle cross-section.
Within the Define Pile Section Properties dialog only the outer cross-section dimensions and concrete compressive strength are defined. The bulk of the reinforced concrete cross-section is defined in the Concrete Designer, which has three tabs:
- Reinforcement - patterns of reinforcing bars can be added, modified, deleted, and assigned to piles
- Casing/Core
- I-Beam
It is the user's responsibility to check whether or not a defined section is compliant with any relevant codes. These checks are NOT performed in RSPile.
REINFORCEMENT PATTERN OPTIONS
The following input parameters are required:
- Rebar Size - RSPile comes with the standard US Std., ASTM, CEB, JD, AS, and NZ rebar sizes predefined. Users must select from the available list of bars.
- Pattern Type
- Rebar Properties
BUNDLED BARS
Bundled bars can be specified using the Bundled Bars checkbox.
The bundled bars option just multiplies the rebar area by the number of bars specified as a bundle.
REBAR PROPERTIES
The following material properties are required:
- Yield Stress
- Elastic Modulus
The concrete modulus is calculated from compressive strength based on ACI: E = 151000*sqrt(fc), where E is the Young's modulus of concrete, and fc is the compressive strength of the concrete in kPa.
