Rotating the Model

Within the Perspective view, the UnWedge model can be rotated for viewing at any angle. Perspective views of the model are available in the 3D Wedge View, the Multi Perspective View, the End Wedges View and the Front, Perspective View.

The model is interactively rotated using the left mouse button, as follows:

  1. Press and hold the left mouse button anywhere in the Perspective view. Notice that the cursor changes to a "circular arrow" symbol Rotating Arrow Icon to indicate that you may rotate the model.
  2. Keep the left mouse button pressed, and move the cursor around. The model is rotated according to the direction of movement of the cursor.
  3. To exit the rotation mode, release the left mouse button. The cursor reverts to the normal arrow cursor.

Repeat the above steps to rotate the model for viewing at any angle.

Rotating About an Axis

If you want to constrain the rotation so that the model only rotates about the X, Y or Z axes (local coordinates):

  1. Hold down the x, y or z keys on the keyboard, while using the rotate option.
  2. The rotation axis will be displayed on the model as a green line, as well as a circle which is perpendicular to the axis, to help you visualize the axis of rotation.
  3. Move the mouse in the horizontal direction, to rotate the model about the selected axis.

NOTE:The X and Y rotation axes correspond to the X and Y axes of the Opening Section, and the Z-axis corresponds to the tunnel axis orientation.

Reset Rotation

To reset the rotation to the default viewing angle, you can select the Reset Rotation option Rotation Icon from the Sidebar or the right-click menu. This will reset the viewing angle of the excavation within the Perspective view, to the default viewing angle for the wedges which are displayed. (The default viewing angle is automatically determined by the program and depends on the wedges which are currently being viewed).

TIP: If you are viewing the Multi Perspective view, and you have rotated the model in more than one Perspective view, you can reset the rotation in all perspective views simultaneously, by holding down the SHIFT key and selecting the Reset Rotation option.

Reset North Arrow Rotation

To reset the rotation such that the north arrow is oriented "up", you can select the Reset North Arrow Rotation option from the right-click menu. This will reset the viewing angle of the excavation within the Perspective view, relative to north pointing upward.
