Exporting a 3D DXF File

The 3D tunnel, wedge(s), and supports can be exported from UnWedge to a DXF file (AutoCAD Drawing Exchange File) using the Export 3D DXF export 3d dfx button option.

To export a 3D DXF:

  1. Make sure the 3D Wedge View is selected.
  2. Select Export 3D DXF export 3d dfx button from the Export sub-menu of the File menu.
  3. You will see a Save As dialog. Enter a name for the DXF file and select Save. The 3D coordinates will be saved to a DXF file.

NOTE: The exported DXF file will show wedges and/or supports according to the Wedge Visibility and Pattern Bolt Visibility settings in the Sidebar, respectively.

The orientation and spatial positioning of the 3D DXF model is based on 3D Coordinates in UnWedge, which are relative to the Tunnel Axis. That is, the Opening Section is parallel to the XY plane, and the Tunnel Axis is aligned with the Z-axis. The Tunnel Axis Orientation Trend and Plunge have no affect on the 3D DXF export orientation.
