3D Wedge View
The 3D Wedge View is the main Deterministic results viewing screen in UnWedge. It provides a three-dimensional perspective view of the model (excavation, wedges and support) and also three orthogonal views (Top/Front/Side), in a four-view split-screen format.
You can access the 3D Wedge View at any time by:
- Selecting the 3D Wedge View from the drop-down menu on the toolbar
- Selecting 3D Wedge View from the Select View sub-menu of the View menu.
Sidebar Options
For the 3D Wedge View, the following options are available in the Sidebar:
- Wedge Visibility
- Bolt Visibility
- Wedge Translation
- Reset Tunnel Rotation
- Tunnel Axis Orientation
- Wedge Information
Viewing and Display Options
The 3D Wedge View has many different interactive viewing and display options, which give the user complete flexibility over the display of the excavation, wedges, support and analysis information. These options are accessible from the toolbar, menu, sidebar, right-click menu, and by various keyboard and/or mouse shortcuts.
These options include:
- Wedge Visibility
- Rotating the model
- Moving the Wedges
- Zooming and Panning
- Data Tips
- Length and Angle Measurement
- Animation
- Display Options
3D Coordinates
See the 3D Coordinates topic for information about the x,y,z coordinate system in the 3D Wedge View.
Naming of Orthogonal Views
The naming of the three orthogonal views depends on the Plunge of the excavation. If the plunge is less than 70 degrees, the views are named Top/Front/Side. If the plunge is 70 degrees to 90 degrees (vertical), then the views are named Side/Top/Side (i.e. the "front" view becomes the "top" view for vertical or near-vertical excavations).
Axes
When Axes option is on, the X, Y, Z coloured axes are displayed at the bottom, right corner of each of the view panes within the 3D Wedge View. In addition, a scaled ruler will be displayed in each of the three orthogonal views (Top/Front/Side). The display of the axes and rulers can be toggled on or off in the toolbar, View menu, or Display Options dialog.
Display of North Arrow
An arrow indicating the North direction can be displayed in the Top orthogonal view of the 3D Wedge View. The display of this arrow can be toggled on or off in the Display Options dialog.
