Overview of Seeders
Seeders are the means by which you specify the initial conditions (Mass, Velocity) of falling rocks. The initial conditions can be specified as an exact number or as a statistical distribution. The number of seeders or the number of seeder locations that you can add in Rocfall3 are unlimited.
The three types of seeders provided in RocFall3 are Point Seeders, Line Seeders, and Plane Seeders. The initial conditions of the seeder and the physical properties of the rock (Mass, Density, Shape) are specified in the Seeder Properties dialog.
Point Seeders
Point Seeders are used when you want to specify that all rocks fall from a single starting location. To add a point seeder please see the Add Point Seeder page.
Line Seeders
Line Seeders are used when you want to specify a set of starting locations across a line. The rock locations are generated with a Uniform distribution along the length of the line seeder (i.e., there is an equal probability that the rock will start falling from any point along the length of the seeder). Please refer to the Add Line Seeder page for more details on how to use this tool.
Plane Seeders
Plane Seeders are used when you want to specify a set of starting locations across a defined plane. The rock locations are generated with a Uniform distribution along the area of the plane (i.e., there is an equal probability that the rock will start falling from any point across the area of the surface). For more details, see the Add Plane Seeder page.
Area Seeders
Area Seeders are used when you want to specify a set of starting locations across a defined area. The rock locations are generated with a Uniform distribution along the area (i.e., there is an equal probability that the rock will start falling from any point across the area of the surface). For more details, see the Add Area Seeder page.
