Duplicate (Array)

This option allows to create copies of the selected geometry in a pattern.

You can make multiple copies of any geometry entity as follows:

  1. Select the Geometry Geometry Tab workflow tab.
  2. Select any geometry entity or entities that you wish to copy.
  3. Select Duplicate (Array) [*insert icon] from the Geometry > Duplicate menu. Input the following parameters in the Copy Entity dialog:
    • Copies: the number of desired copies
    • Define by: methods for defining the direction vector. The direction vector is used to specify the direction in which copies will be generated from the centre of the original copy. The direction can be defined by:
      • X, Y, or Z-axis
      • Custom vector or
      • Pick from Geometry to use existing geometry as the direction vector
    • Spacing: distance between copies along the defined direction vector
  4. Select the Copy Mode:
  • 1D-Array Copy will generate the copies along one direction axis based on user input
  • 2D-Array Copy will generate the copies along the first axis and then each of those copies will be used to generate more copies along the second axis. For example, if you use the x and y axes for your two directions and specified 5 copies along the x-axis and 10 copies along the y-axis, you would fill a 5 by 10 unit rectangle with a total of 50 copies of your entity. Each axis can have a different number of copies, spacing and direction vector.
