Results Set

The Kinematic Results Set option allows users to quickly toggle block coloring between all valid blocks or blocks which belong to the subset of removable blocks or failed blocks.

The Result Set includes:

  • All Valid Blocks - block are considered "valid" if it does not touch the non-terrain surface or intersect any search limits. This includes the entire collection of blocks being computed.
  • Removable Blocks - valid blocks are considered "removable" if there exists at least one valid translating direction to geometrically remove the block out of its socket. This is a subset of All Valid Blocks.
  • Failed Blocks (FS < Design FS) - valid and removable blocks are considered "failed" if its factor of safety is less than the Design Factor of Safety specific in Project Settings. This is a subset of Removable Blocks (since a block cannot possibly fail without being removable).
The Results Set can also be changed from the Properties pane when the Results node is selected in the Visibility Tree.

Block Colors

The Blocks Colors determines if Blocks are colored by:

  • Material Property Color (blocks are colored by the Material Property colors set in Materials > Define Materials for identifying the material composition of each block)
  • Joint Property Color (blocks are colored by the Joint Property colors set in Joints > Define Joint Properties for identifying the joint properties of each joint face of a block)
  • Random Colors (block colors are randomly generated such that adjacent blocks have different colors for easier distinction between blocks)
  • Active Contour (blocks are colored by the contour values from Interpret > Contour Blocks)

Additional Options

  • Show Socketed Slope - By default, Show Socketed Slope is turned on to show the slope extents as part of the Results. This option is also available in the Results node Properties pane.
  • Show Block ID Label - check this option to toggle on or off the visibility of the Block ID Labels.
  • Show User Filtered Blocks - this option refers to blocks that have been filtered out using the Filter feature in the Block Information pane. See the Block Information topic for more details on user defined filters.
  • Apply Transparency to Blocks - By default, all Blocks are opaque and the Transparency slider in the Results node Properties pane does not apply to the Blocks (only to the Socketed Slope). To also apply the Transparency slider to Blocks, toggle on the Apply Transparency to Blocks option.
