Search Results

Import Swedge File

The Import SWedge File option allows you to import SWedgeToRocSlope files from the program SWedge (3D limit equilibrium surface wedge slope stability analysis program from Rocscience) into RocSlope. The following geometries and properties are imported:

  • Joint Geometry (either as Measured Joints or Joint Surfaces)
  • Joint Properties (i.e., Shear Strength and Waviness)
  • Slope Geometry
  • Material Property (i.e., Rock Unit Weight)

To export from SWedge:

  1. Select: File > Export > Export to RocSlope rocslope icon
  2. Save the SWedgeToRocSlope (.swd2rocslope) file.

To import an SWedge file into RocSlope:

  1. Select: File > Import > Import SWedge File Import Swedge
  2. Load the SWedgeToRocSlope (.swd2rocslope) file.
  3. A prompt should appear asking: "Would you like to import joints as measured joints? Selecting 'No' will import them as joint surfaces". Select Yes or No.
    1. If Yes:
      1. SWedge joints are imported into the Define Measured Joints dialog and added to the model as Measured Joints nodes.
      2. The joints are circular disks, centered at SWedge's joint polygon centroid and possessing maximum Radius distance from polygon centroid to any polygon vertex.
    2. If No:
      1. SWedge joints are imported as separate Joint Surfaces and added to the model as Joint Surface nodes.
      2. The joints are shaped like the actual wedge joints.
  4. The Material Property is added using the Rock Unit Weight from the SWedge model.
  5. The Slope geometry is imported as an External geology node and set with the corresponding Material Property.
  6. Joint Properties are added using the Shear Strength Model and Waviness parameters from Joint 1, Joint 2, and Basal (if applicable) from the SWedge model.
  7. The Joint geometry is imported and set with the corresponding Joint Property.
