Rock Mass and Abutment Strength

The Rock Mass and Abutment Strength tab of the Input Data dialog allow the user to define Rock Mass strength parameters which are not specific to the abutment shear strength and also assign different Material Properties to the Abutments.

Rock Mass Strength

Rock Mass strength parameters are strength parameters that are not assigned to any specific abutment shear strength Material Properties.

These parameters include:

  • Intact Unconfined Compressive Strength (UCS)
  • Rock Mass Modulus
  • Poisson Ratio

Their applicability depends on the Analysis Method selected in Project Settings. See the Analysis Method topic for more information.

Abutment Strength

Various shear strength material properties defined in the Material Properties tab of the Input Data dialog can be assigned to the numbered abutments by selecting from the list of defined materials in the Properties dropdown in the Abutments grid.
