Rocscience is very excited and looking forward to participating in DFI’s 45th annual conference on Deep Foundations which will be help virtually from October 27th to 30th.

Steve Chai and Sina Javankhoshdel will be presenting a paper on the Simulation of Soil-structure Interaction with Sheet Pile and Retained Soil which was authored by Rocscience’s very own Steve Chai, Clarissa Aguiar, Sina Javankhoshdel, and Dr. Thamer Yacoub.

This paper looks at soil/structure interaction with a case study of a staged excavation using sheet piles and anchors. It looks specifically at the interactive behaviour between the sheet wall and soil by using a joint element with material dependency to introduce the failure mechanism of slippage.

The results from this case study were calculated using finite element analysis programs RS2 and RS3.

The full paper can be read here.
