Hiring: Software Quality Assurance Engineer

Rocscience is looking for a Software Quality Assurance Engineer with a strong drive and passion for excellence and the qualifications needed to ensure customer requirements are met and software is delivered error-free. You will participate in multiple aspects of Rocscience’s software testing processes including testing, documentation, deployment, and maintenance of our suite of 2D and 3D geotechnical software. Your work will be 70% hands on and 30% collaboration. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Creating test plans and test cases based on software specifications, performance requirements, and regression testing
  • Designing, implementing, and verifying test automation solutions in software in a highly specialized C/C++ framework
  • Communicating with engineers and developers to improve the quality of software and processes
  • Executing automated tests and analyzing and documenting results
  • Engaging in systematic software maintenance, including unit and system testing
  • Maintaining test environments and test automation scripts to support changes
  • Reviewing, analyzing, and reporting on the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems and developing testing strategies for improving or leveraging these systems

  • You’re passionate about learning: You’re curious to learn more about software and how customers use it to get their work done. You’re adaptable and take feedback well, highly collaborative, and keen to learn from others’ expertise as well as to share your own.


  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Master's Degree is an asset)
  • Deep understanding of and experience with the full range of testing types, including unit, integration, system, functional, regression, and acceptance
  • Proven working experience in software engineering with preferably one to five years of practical experience
  • Demonstrated development capacity with object-oriented programming (C/C++ experience is an asset)
  • Knowledge of version control systems is required
  • Highly collaborative interpersonal skills
  • Excellent analytical skills and demonstrated aptitude for problem solving
  • Excellent knowledge of spoken and written English
