Hiring: Marketing and Strategy Lead

Are you a marketing jack-of-all-trades who can see projects all the way through strategy, campaign development, content creation, and analysis? Can you go from brainstorming creative ideas to writing ad copy to segmenting email lists all in one day? Do terms like inbound, customer journey, conversion, user flow, and UTM tags mean something to you?

Rocscience is looking for a versatile and experienced Marketing and Strategy Lead to spearhead marketing initiatives to communicate our vision, mission and values, and help us reach goals and objectives for our world-leading suite of 2D and 3D software for geotechnical engineers. The role encompasses a wide range of responsibilities, including marketing strategy, campaign development and execution, content development, and metrics and analytics. You will:

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of strategies for promoting brand awareness and reputation and meeting goals and objectives for growth and market penetration
  • Plan and execute marketing campaigns across multiple channels to attract traffic to our website, generate and nurture leads, grow our email list, and increase customer engagement
  • Ensure campaigns align with our brand and strategy, translating goals and objectives into metrics for measuring and making sense of site and social analytics data
  • Lead and manage the development of content to support campaigns, defining target audiences and phases in the customer journey, content types and distribution channels, and procedures for reviewing, approving, and publishing
  • Monitor, measure, and report on the performance of campaigns and content using Google Analytics and other insights/analytics tools to analyze and optimize their marketing effectiveness


  • You strike the right balance between creative and analytic thinking: You’re creative and can brainstorm and develop marketing ideas, but you also have exceptional organizational and analytical skills to see those ideas through and measure their effectiveness.
  • You’re comfortable with highly technical software and audiences: You’re comfortable working with complex, highly technical software developed for a specialized audience that values analytical thinking and is looking for solutions that are safe, reliable, and economical based on practical, data-driven decisions.
  • You know when to lead and when to be a member of the team: You’re comfortable initiating and leading projects and aren’t afraid to make your voice be heard. But you’re also an excellent collaborator, able to work with and contribute to a diverse team of developers, engineers, and other subject matter experts.
  • You’re passionate about learning: You’re curious about how users interact with software to get their work done. You’re familiar with or are willing to learn about data-heavy applications, particularly 2D and 3D visualization and modeling tools. You’re adaptable and take feedback well. You’re highly collaborative and keen to learn from others’ expertise as well as to share your own. 


  • BA/BSc or equivalent working experience (Master’s Degree is an asset)
  • At least three years of experience in a marketing role with preference given to applicants with exposure to the full spectrum of marketing activities and practices
  • Familiarity with developing and implementing marketing strategies for promoting brand awareness and meeting company-wide goals and objectives
  • Able to lead, execute, and measure marketing campaigns and initiatives across a wide range of channels, including web, email, social media, print, and advertising
  • Familiarity with inbound marketing practices and techniques for attracting qualified website traffic, generating, nurturing and converting leads, and growing customer engagement
  • Experience creating and executing email marketing campaigns to grow email lists, nurture leads, and engage customers
  • Knowledge of content marketing concepts and practices, including developing personas, mapping the customer journey, and creating, managing and publishing content
  • Past experience producing content for the web and social media channels (LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, YouTube); knowledge of HTML/CSS is an asset
  • Excellent writer with the ability to create content that’s data-driven, action-oriented, and relevant as well as interesting and compelling
  • Proficiency using content creation and management applications, including CMSs and Adobe Creative Suite; a flare for designing print ads and collateral is an asset
  • Familiar with Google-friendly site guidelines and experience with Google search engine monitoring and optimization using Search Console
  • Experience monitoring and analyzing site, email, and social analytics to measure and report on the marketing effectiveness of campaigns
  • Proficiency with Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, MailChimp, and social media Analytics/Insights tools is a requirement
  • Experience using marketing automation tools like HubSpot, Marketo, and Salesforce Pardot is an asset
  • Proficiency with the full Microsoft Office suite; Word, PowerPoint, and Excel are required
  • Exceptional analytical, communication, interpersonal, and collaborative skills
