Compute

The Compute option, available in the toolbar or the Statistics menu, is only applicable when:

• the Analysis Type = Probabilistic
• Random Number generation has been selected in the Random Numbers tab (in Project Settings).

The purpose of the Compute option is to allow the user to re-run a Probabilistic Analysis using true random sampling. In this case, each time Compute is selected, the analysis results will (in general) be different. This is because a different random seed number is used to re-generate the statistical distributions of input variables.

If the Pseudo-Random Sampling check box is ON in Project Settings, then the Compute option will not be useful (since re-running the analysis would always produce the same results). Also, Compute is not applicable for a Deterministic Analysis, since results are always automatically computed whenever the input data is changed.
