Announcing the Rocscience Product Roadmap for 2019-2020
We’re excited and proud to announce the Rocscience product roadmap for 2019-2020 to coincide with the recent launch of Maintenance+ on September 1. As you probably already know, we will be delivering new releases of all our software over the coming months. This roadmap is our way of letting you know when releases will be available as well as what features you can look forward to.
RocTopple, RocPlane, SWedge – September 2019
Our first bundle of releases goes out in the next few weeks with great additions to RocTopple, RocPlane, and SWedge, our suite of rock slope stability analysis software.
RocTopple
RocTopple is a 2D and 3D software that offers users fast and comprehensive solutions to a variety of slope stability problems. New features include:
- New Hybrid Block-Flexural Toppling model
RocPlane
An essential part of your rock slope analysis toolkit, RocPlane is an easy-to-use tool for planar wedge stability analysis and design. RocPlane is an especially useful tool for geotechnical engineers analyzing bench stability in open pit mines and rock slopes. Features in the new release include:
- Addition of UnWedge bolt models, including Mechanically Anchored, Swellex, Grouted Dowel, Cable Bolt, and Split Set
- Ponded water analysis
SWedge
SWedge is a quick and simple-to-use analysis tool for evaluating the geometry and stability of surface wedges in rock slopes. Commonly used together with Dips, SWedge is a key tool for the analysis of rock slope stability. Features in the new release include:
- Addition of UnWedge bolt models, including Mechanically Anchored, Swellex, Grouted Dowel, Cable Bolt, and Split Set
- Ponded water analysis
- Bench Design plotting of mean and cumulative volume
UnWedge, RocFall2, RocSupport - October 2019
The next bundle coming later in October consists of new releases of UnWedge, RocFall2, and RocSupport.
UnWedge
A key tool for geotechnical engineers that work with tunnels, underground excavations, and caverns, UnWedge is used to determine the stability of rock wedges formed by the intersection of structural discontinuities. UnWedge calculates factor of safety and can determine support requirements for projects. New features are:
- Multiple end-wedge support patterns
- Truncated underground wedges with support
RocFall2
When your slope is at risk for rockfalls, RocFall2 is there for you. Explore the energy, velocity, and bounce height of falling rocks, and model remedial measures like barriers. See falling rocks in static reports or animate the rock path for a clear visualization of the rockfall. New features include:
- PFEIFER ISOFER barriers
- Addition of impact energy percentile design parameter to non-factored method
- Barriers can now be placed on berms
- More graphing options
RocSupport
RocSupport is an analysis tool for estimating support requirements of tunnels in weak rock. Rock-support interaction analysis allows you to quickly run parametric analyses for different support types and rock parameters. New features include:
- Large strain Generalized Hoek-Brown solution method (Vrakas 2016)
Slide2, RSPile - November 2019
Coming in November are new releases of Slide2 and RSPile. Slide2 will include improvements to support properties and report printing. RSPile will see enhancements to pile selection and definition as well as pile casing customization.
Dips, CPillar - November 2019
November will see new releases of Dips and CPillar. Dips will offer enhancements to kinematic sensitivity analysis and more plot customization options while CPillar will include improvements to crown pillar analysis.
Slide3, RS3 - December 2019
Coming at the beginning of December are new releases of Slide3 and RS3. Both Slide3 and RS3 will include many improvements to performance for large models as well as new reporting capabilities.
RS2, Settle3 - December 2019
The end of December will see new releases of RS2 and Settle3. RS2 will include improvements to support properties and report printing while Settle3 will offer enhancements to embankment design and liquefaction analysis.
EX3 - January 2020
In January of 2020, we will launch the new EX3, successor to Examine3D, offering 3D boundary element analysis.
RSData - February 2020
Finally, in February we will launch RSData, our new rock and soils test program that is the successor to RocData.
