Course Instructors

Brendan Fisher, Ph.D., P.Eng., P.E., Principal, Fisher Rock Engineering

Dr. Brendan Fisher holds degrees in Geology, Engineering Geology, Geotechnical Engineering, and a Ph.D. in Geological Engineering from the University of British Columbia. He has been a geological engineering practitioner and user of the Rocscience software suite for about 20 years. Dr. Fisher is well-versed in applying theory combined with a practical understanding of rock mass characterization and modeling to develop solutions for complex geologic conditions where rock mechanics engineering was an integral part of the projects' success. Much of his experience involves the design of open pit mine walls and the remedial design of rock slopes for civil engineering projects.

Grace Huang, Ph.D., Geomechanics Product Manager, Rocscience

Grace completed her BASc in civil engineering at the University of Toronto, and her MSc and Ph.D. in civil engineering with a geotechnical focus at Virginia Tech. She has previous experience in software development, geotechnical consulting in the transportation sector, research, and teaching foundation engineering at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
