Import Slide Project

The Import Slide Project option allows you to import slope models from the program Slide (2-dimensional limit equilibrium slope stability analysis program from Rocscience) into Slide3. The 2D models are extruded in the third dimension to create a 3D slope model in Slide3.

  1. Select File > Import > Import Slide Project
  2. Navigate to the folder containing your Slide file.

NOTE: you can import from a *.slim file (single slope model) or *.slmd file (multi-scenario Slide file). If you import from a multi-scenario Slide file then you will first be asked to choose one scenario to import. You cannot import multiple scenarios at the same time from a *.slmd file.

  1. A dialog will appear allowing you to enter the Extrusion Depth. This is the dimension of the extruded model in the third dimension. A default value will appear but you can enter a user-defined value. Select OK.
  2. You will then see an Import Information dialog. This dialog presents a summary of the Slide model or analysis features which cannot be imported into Slide3 (e.g. a feature which is not applicable or does not exist in Slide3). Select OK.
  3. The Slide model will be imported into Slide3 using the specified Extrusion Depth.

In general the Slide Import option works very well and allows you to convert a Slide model into an extruded 3D Slide3 model in a few mouse clicks. Try out this option on your own Slide files to see how it works.
