Edit Surfaces

When the Surface Type = Non-Circular in the Surface Options dialog, the Edit sub-menu in the Surfaces menu allows you to edit the various objects used for defining non-circular slip surfaces, as described below.

Delete

Use the Delete option to delete:

  • fully specified slip surfaces created using Add Surface
  • an Axis Point created with Add Axis
  • Block Search objects (window, line, point or polyline) created using the Block Search options

To use Delete:

  1. Select the Delete Surfaces Delete Surfaces Icon option from the toolbar, or from the Edit sub-menu of the Surfaces menu.
  2. Click on slip surface, axis point or block search objects with the mouse. Note: you can select multiple entities at once with a selection window.
  3. When you are finished selecting, right-click the mouse and select Done Selection, or press the Enter key, and the selected objects will be deleted.

Move

Use the Move option to move:

  • fully specified slip surfaces created using Add Surface
  • an Axis Point created with Add Axis
  • Block Search objects (window, line, point or polyline) created using the Block Search options

To use Move:

  1. Select the Move option from the Edit sub-menu of the Surfaces menu.
  2. Click on the slip surface, axis point or block search objects that you wish to move.
  3. Right-click the mouse and select Done Selection, or press Enter.
  4. You will then be prompted to enter two points defining the move. Enter a base point and a second point, graphically with the mouse or by entering x,y coordinates in the prompt line, and the selected object(s) will be moved according to the translation vector defined by the two points.

Stretch

Use the Stretch option to move vertices of (i.e. re-size):

  • fully specified slip surfaces created using Add Surface
  • Block Search objects (window, line or polyline) created using the Block Search options (Stretch is not applicable for point search objects)

To use Stretch:

  1. Select the Stretch option from the Edit sub-menu of the Surfaces menu.
  2. Select one or more vertices of a block search window, line, polyline, or a fully specified surface.
  3. Right-click the mouse and select Done Selection, or press Enter.
  4. You will then be prompted to enter two points defining the stretch. Enter a base point and a second point, graphically with the mouse or by entering x,y coordinates in the prompt line, and the selected vertex (or vertices) will be moved according to the translation vector defined by the two points.

Right Click Shortcut

The surface editing options are also available as convenient right-click shortcuts for individual entities. For example, if you click the right mouse button ON a slip surface or search object, you will see a popup menu with appropriate editing options available.
