Defining Crest Loss

Crest Loss is specified in the Crest Loss dialog.

To define Crest Loss for a vertex (or a number of vertices):

1. Click on Crest Loss in the Slope menu.
2. Select the vertex/vertices that you want to apply Crest Loss to.
   You can click on each individual vertex, or you can hold down the left mouse button and use a selection window to choose multiple vertices.
3. Press Enter when the desired vertices have been selected.
   The Crest Loss dialog will open.
   
4. Specify the Slope Direction. Select either Left to Right or Right to Left. The slope direction is not automatically determined.
5. Enter the Upslope segment length loss (d1).
6. Enter the Downslope segment Length loss (d2).
7. Click OK.

Notes:

• You can also apply Crest Loss to a particular vertex by right-clicking on that vertex and selecting Crest Loss. The Crest Loss dialog will open.
• In the Crest Loss dialog you can apply crest loss to vertices individually, or you can apply the same crest loss to all selected vertices by clicking on the Apply to All check box.
• Any input that generates an invalid slope is discarded.
