Field Points

Adding field points allows you to a create point, line, plane or volume of interest to calculate the interpolation of the stress / displacement calculation. This becomes handy when you want to analyze a specific region of field.

You can define the following field points by:

  • Add Field Points Add Field Points (you can import coordinates from external files)
  • Add Field Points Line Add Field Points Line
  • Add Field Points Plane Add Field Points Plane (XY, YZ, XZ field point plane)
  • Add Field Points Box Add Field Points Box
  • Add Field Points Surface Add Field points surface

Results are displayed as contour on the surface / volume of the defined region. you can change the contour options to view the results by selecting Interpret > Contour Legend > Contour options.

Field Points / Lines

Users can define series of single field points. These behave similarly to other field point definition methods but give the user more flexibility in where field points are calculated.

Field Points Plane

When you define stress grid planes, you can visualize the contours on a plane. Users have the option to select a XY, YZ, or XZ field point plane. In the field points plane dialog users can define the plane's origin and orientation, size, and mesh settings for the point generation.

Field Points Box

When you define stress grid boxes they can visualize the contours on cutting planes of the box. In the contour plane dialog they can sweep along any of the principle axes of the box. They will first be shown a rough preview, and then a more refined contour when it is available. Clicking add will add the plane, and then they can continue adding planes or close the dialog. The planes persist once added and update to reflect current data type/stage/contour range.

After the field point box is defined, it can be rotated to whatever rotation you want to see.

Field Points Surface

Users can use this feature generate field points on an irregular surface. Like with the field point plane, they have the option to select and adjust the mesh density.
