FAQs
What is Maintenance+?
Maintenance+ is Rocscience’s enhanced annual subscription-based maintenance and support service. The core service of Maintenance+ is Continuous Software. With Continuous Software, you get access to all new feature releases, enhancements, performance improvements, and bug fixes for your software frequently throughout the year and as soon as they’re available. The additional services included in Maintenance+ are License Services, Technical Support, and Learning Advantage.
The Maintenance Plan has been replaced by Maintenance+ on September 1, 2019, and any Maintenance Plan subscriptions that were active on September 1 (via Perpetual or Lease) have automatically converted to a Maintenance+ subscription on that date.
With a Maintenance+ subscription you get Continuous Software, which means you no longer need to worry about upgrading or the extra cost of Upgrade licenses. New releases of your software consisting of new features, enhancements, and bug fixes will be available more frequently throughout the year for you to download and install under the same annual license. So, if your Maintenance+ subscription is active and you’ve installed the most recent release, you can be sure you’re working with the latest version of your software.
The Maintenance Plan you had with your Annual Lease has automatically converted to Maintenance+ on September 1, 2019, and will continue for as long as your Annual Lease is active.
If you have an existing Perpetual license with the Maintenance Plan, the Maintenance Plan has automatically converted to Maintenance+ for the remainder of the term at no additional cost. At the end of the term you will have the option to renew your Maintenance+ subscription for 12 months at 20% of the current license price.
No. Upgrades are no longer be available for purchase since software releases with all the latest features are available for free with a Maintenance+ subscription.
If you have an old Perpetual license without the Maintenance Plan and you want to bring your software up to date with the latest release, you will need to purchase a Maintenance+ subscription as described below under “How do I get a Maintenance+ subscription?”
How you get a Maintenance+ subscription depends on whether you’re buying a new license or you have an existing license.
When you buy a new Perpetual license after September 1, 2019, it will come with an initial 12-month subscription, with the option to renew for another 12 months at 20% of the current license price. If you’re buying a new Lease license, it will include Maintenance+ for as long as your Lease is active.
If you have an existing Lease license on September 1, 2019, the included Maintenance Plan has automatically converted to a Maintenance+ subscription for as long as your Lease is active. If you have an existing Perpetual license with the Maintenance Plan, it has also automatically converted to Maintenance+ for the remainder of the term, with the option to renew annually at 20% of the current license price.
If you purchased a Perpetual license without the Maintenance Plan and the purchase was made 24 months ago or less, you can purchase a Maintenance+ subscription at 20% of the current license price, but you will first need to purchase retroactive maintenance going back to the original purchase date at 1.35% of the current license price per month. If the purchase was made more than 24 months ago, you will need to purchase a new Perpetual license at 100% of the current license price, which will include an initial 12-month subscription to Maintenance+, renewable every year after that at 20% of the current license price.
No. Beginning September 1, 2019, all Rocscience licenses include Maintenance+ as part of the purchase price. Your purchase of a new Perpetual license will come with an initial 12-month subscription, with the option to renew for another 12 months at 20% of the current license price. Your purchase of a new Lease license will include a Maintenance+ subscription for as long as your Lease is active.
No. After the launch of Maintenance+ on September 1, 2019, we no longer sell software licenses without maintenance. We’ve also switched to a continuous software model where releases consist of new features, enhancements, and bug fixes and where we only have one version of a software program at any given time. This means we are no longer supporting previous versions of software, making a Maintenance+ subscription the only way to get bug fixes.
