The Legend in the Slide Interpret program serves the following purposes:
The Legend indicates the values of the safety factor contours within slip center grids used for a circular slip surface Grid Search.
If your model includes support, then the Legend will indicate the failure modes along the length of your support (e.g. pullout, tensile failure or stripping). This is displayed at the bottom of the Legend, only if the Support Forces are displayed with the Support Forces option.
The Legend Options dialog, available in the View menu, or by right-clicking on the Legend, allows the user to customize various Legend Options. In addition, the Legend can be moved anywhere in the view, or re-sized, with the mouse. The options which are applicable to the Legend, are described below.
Show / Hide Legend
The display of the Legend can be toggled on or off independently in each view. This can be done through the Legend Options dialog. NOTE:
A convenient shortcut to hide the Legend, is to right-click on the Legend and select Hide Legend.
To re-display the Legend, you can right-click anywhere in the view and select Show Legend from the default right-click menu.
The Number Format and number of Decimal Places selected in the Legend Options dialog is a global setting which applies to all views of all documents. Furthermore:
Whenever the Number Format or number of Decimal Places is changed, the current settings are automatically saved in the registry on your computer, and automatically become the new program defaults.
The Legend Location option is available in the Legend Options dialog, or by right-clicking on the Legend. By default, the Legend Location = Floating, which means that the Legend can be moved anywhere in the view, as described below. The Legend Location can also be fixed in any corner of the view, by selecting one of the four options.
Moving the Legend
If the Legend Location = Floating, it can be moved anywhere on the view by hovering over it with the mouse. When you see the four-arrow "move" icon, press and HOLD the left mouse button, and move the legend anywhere in the view.
Re-sizing the Legend
If the Legend Location = Floating, the Legend can be lengthened or shortened. If you hover the mouse over the MIDPOINT of the top or bottom of the Legend, you will see a double-arrow icon. Press and HOLD the left mouse button, and drag the mouse up or down, to re-size the legend.
As you resize the legend, the number of labeled contour intervals may increase or decrease, depending on the number of intervals defined in the Contour Options dialog.
Whenever the legend size is changed, the current size is automatically saved in the registry on your computer, and automatically becomes the default size for all new views which are created.
The colours and intervals used in the Legend to display safety factor, can be customized in the Contour Options dialog. Contour Options is available in the View menu, the default right-click menu, or by right-clicking on the Legend.
