Data Entry
On the Settings > Data Entry tab, you can change the default settings that are automatically loaded on data entry pages (i.e., Projects, Test Holes, etc).
To adjust the default Data Entry settings:
- Go to the left-hand navigation menu and select Tools > Settings > Data Entry.
- Change the desired settings for any of the fields listed above.
- Click Save.
These data entry settings include:
For New Projects
- Unit System: Determines the depth unit used in the program. Choose between Imperial (feet) and Metric (metres) unit systems.
- Coordinate System: Used to specify the coordinate system for project and borehole locations. Choose from Geographic (WGS84), UTM, and Local (see this page for details).
- Site UTM Zone: If UTM is used as coordinate system for a project, the UTM zone (letter & number) need to be specified. RSLog can automatically detect your UTM Zone based on your location (see Location Services page).
For New Test Holes
- Sample Type: Select the default Sample Type assigned to a new sample. List of Sample Types may be edited on Settings > Field Investigation tab.
- Field Test Type: Select the default Field Test Type when adding field test data. List of Field Tests may be edited on Settings > Field Investigation tab.
- Drill Method: Select the default Drill Method when a test hole is created. List of Boring Methods may be edited on Settings > Field Investigation tab.
- Start Notes: Enter a default text that will be presented at the top of the first layer in the borehole log (i.e. at depth = zero). For each individual borehole you can edit/change this text later from General tab > Completion Notes section.
- Termination Notes: Enter a default text that will be presented at the bottom of the last layer in the borehole log. For each individual borehole you can edit/change this text later from General tab > Completion Notes section.
Note: The following keywords may be used when entering a default text for Start Notes / Termination Notes (please enclose the keywords in {}):
- {name} represents test hole name (e.g. "BH-01").
- {depth} represents borehole depth (e.g. "34.5 ft").
- {elevation} represents borehole collar elevation (e.g. "652.8 ft").
- {water_depth} represents groundwater depth (e.g. "7.8 m").
- {spt_energy} represents SPT hammer energy (e.g. "60 %").
SPT Refusal
During data entry for Standard Penetration Test (i.e. SPT blow counts) or Dynamic Cone Penetration Test (i.e. DCPT blow counts), if the number of blow counts is entered in 'refusal' format (e.g. 35/3", 40/5 REF"), this blow count will be used for SPT analysis and for drawing the blow counts graph in the test hole log.
Sample Data
Using this feature you can import demo projects and demo boring log templates to your RSLog account. Use this if you accidentally deleted them from your account.
