Planar Section Tool

You can extract polyline boundaries based on the intersection of a surface or volume and a cutting plane. To do this:

  • Select the Geometry Geology workflow tab workflow tab.
  • Select at least one surface or volume and one plane.
  • Select the Planar Section Tool Planar Section Tool icon option from the toolbar or Misc Tools sub-menu in the Geometry menu.
  • A dialog should appear. You can use the Add Surface and Delete Selected Surface to add or remove surfaces to be cut from. You can use the Add Plane and Delete Selected Planes to add to the list of cutting planes. Note that the selected cutting planes are assumed to be infinitely large. Therefore, the width and height of a cutting plane is not important, only its plane orientation is important.
  • Select Ok to accept the original geometry and cutting planes. Polyline geometry entities of the intersected cutting plane with each geometry will be added to the model and can be seen in the Visibility pane.
