Loading: Line Loads
Line loads can be applied to a Slide model with the Add
Line Load option. Line loads represent concentrated forces, with
units of FORCE / LENGTH, when considering the out-of-plane dimension.
The location of the line load on the slope is done interactively
by either typing in the coordinates or using the mouse to track
along currently defined boundaries. After the load location is entered,
the orientation and magnitude are defined with the following dialog.
The load orientation is easily defined using one of several automatic
options (Normal, Vertical, Horizontal) or by specifying the angle.

Loading: Distributed Loads
Distributed loads (tractions, pressures) can be easily added to
a model. The distribution of load can either be constant or triangular.
If it is a constant distributed load, a single magnitude is defined
while if it is triangular, the magnitude at each end of the distribution
is entered.
A distributed load magnitude is defined as a FORCE per UNIT LENGTH
(eg. kN/m), when considering the 2-dimensional problem. This represents
a FORCE per UNIT AREA (eg. kN/m2) when considering the out-of-plane
dimension.

Loading: Seismic Loads
Pseudo-static seismic loads can be added to a Slide analysis by defining the seismic load coefficients in the horizontal and/or vertical directions. The driving force on each slice due to seismicity is then calculated by multiplying the slice weight by the seismic load coefficient.
The example below shows a coefficient of 0.15, however there are no
limitations on the seismic coefficients that you can enter in Slide.

Loading: Interactive Editing of Loads
All loads can easily be modified or deleted by placing the cursor
over the load and clicking your right mouse button. This will display
a popup menu that will give you the option of either modifying or
deleting the load.
