Viewing Options
The main Settle3D viewing screen is the Plan/3D View. The Plan/3D View is a two-part, split screen view which displays:

Analysis results are displayed in both the Plan View and 3D View.

Viewing Options: Resize Views
Within the Plan/3D View you can maximize the Plan View or 3D View simply by double-clicking in the view. To restore the split-screen presentation, double-click again in the maximized view. You can also select toolbar shortcut buttons or drag the vertical divider bar at the center of the Plan/3D View to change the size of the views.

Viewing Options: Sidebar
The Sidebar is the vertical control panel which is available at the right side of the Settle3D application window. The main functions available in the Sidebar are:
The Sidebar options apply to both the Plan View and 3D View, and also chart views of line query data (depth control only). See below for further details.

Viewing Options: Depth Control
The Depth Control in the Sidebar allows you to interactively change the viewing depth for analysis results. This applies to:

contours in a horizontal plane in the Plan View and 3D View
line query or point query data in the Plan View
graphs of line query data at a given depth
|
You can interactively drag the slider control or enter a number with the keyboard. As you change the depth, the analysis results in all applicable views will be immediately updated.

Viewing Options: View Controls
The View Control checkboxes in the Sidebar allow you to quickly show or hide the display of various model and view elements in the Plan View and 3D View.

The Deformed Contours option allows you to display the actual settlement deformation as a 3-dimensional surface magnified by a scale factor. See the Field Point Grid page for details.

Viewing Options: Stage Tabs
If you are working with a multi-stage model, the Stage Tabs allow you to view the model and analysis results at each stage. To view a stage, click on a Stage Tab with the mouse. Alternatively, you can use the Page Down / Page Up keys to increase / decrease the current viewing stage.

Viewing Options: Rotate 3D View
In the 3D view, the model can be viewed from any angle by clicking the left mouse button and dragging (the cursor will change to a circular arrow symbol when you click and hold the left mouse button). As you move the mouse, the viewing angle of the model will follow the mouse movement.

Viewing Options: Zoom and Pan
You can zoom in, zoom out or pan using various keyboard or mouse shortcuts. For details see the Zoom and Pan help topic.

Viewing Options: Data Tips
Data Tips allow you to quickly access information about model input parameters, and analysis results, by simply placing the mouse over the desired model entities or locations. Information which can be displayed as Data Tips includes load properties, material properties, query properties, vertex coordinates, and contour data.

Viewing Options: Display Options
The Display Options dialog allows you to customize the appearance of the Plan View, 3D View, Info Viewer and Chart Views. The Defaults button allows you to save the current display options as the program default options, or restore the original program defaults.

A separate display options dialog allows you to customize the appearance of queries, see the Query page for details.
Load display properties can also be customized. You can customize the colours used to display each load, and you can also define the apparent load height. Load height is only used for display purposes and does not affect the analysis results.

Viewing Options: Contour Options
The Contour Options dialog contains a variety of options for customizing the display of contours and query data. Customized contour styles can be saved for future use.

Viewing Options: Zoom to Plane
The Zoom to Plane option is a right-click option for the 3D View, which allows you to quickly zoom to a vertical contour plane generated by a Line Query.

After you select Zoom to Plane, the line query contour plane will be maximized in the 3D view.

Viewing Options: Animate
The Animate option allows you to animate the rotation of the model in the 3D View, the contour plane depth, and the model stages, using the following dialog. Rotation is about the vertical axis.
