Query
The Query options in Settle3D allow you to plot analysis results along vertical or horizontal lines or vertical planes. The Query results can be displayed directly on the model or graphed. There are two types of Query:
|
|
 |
 |
 |
Query: Point Query
A Point Query is created with the Add Query Point option and allows you to obtain analysis results along any vertical line through your soil profile. In the 3D View, point query results can be displayed as a continuous color graph or as discrete bars. The query values are given by the Contour Legend in the sidebar.

The query data corresponds to the currently selected data type (e.g. total settlement, loading stress, etc). Query results are automatically updated if you edit the model input parameters or change the output data type or stage. Any number of queries can be added at different locations.
In the Plan View, point query results are displayed as a single value corresponding to the current viewing depth.

The discretization of analysis points along the query can be specified when the query is added, or can be edited at a later time by right-clicking on the query and selecting Query Properties from the popup menu.

Query data can be graphed as described below.

Query: Line Query
A Line Query is created with the Add Query Line option. A Line Query is a horizontal line in the Plan View, which is discretized into a number of uniform intervals, which define a series of vertical strings in 3-dimensions.
 |
In the Plan View, the Line Query displays results along the horizontal line at
the current viewing depth.
In the 3D View, the Line Query results are used to generate contours on a
vertical plane passing through the Line Query.

Query: Graph Query
Point Query and Line Query results can be easily graphed with the Graph Query option. This allows you to plot:
 |
data versus depth for Point Queries
data versus distance for Line Queries
data at different stages, times or multiple queries on one graph
|
The Graph Query option can be conveniently accessed using a right-click shortcut.

Query: Export
Query results can be exported in a variety of ways. Graphs and data can be copied to the clipboard or exported to Excel - simply right-click on a graph and select Chart in Excel.

Query data can also be exported with the Export Data to Excel option.

Query: Editing
After adding queries they can easily be edited. You can move or delete the query, move the query endpoints, edit query properties and display options. Editing options are available through the menu, toolbar or convenient right-click shortcuts.
