Real Time Stress Analysis
A unique feature of Examine2D is the real time stress analysis capability, which allows you to manipulate model parameters, and in real-time, visualize the analysis results. You can change the shape or position of excavations, material properties and far field stresses, and the contours and graphs of stresses and displacements will be immediately updated to show the influence of these changes.
Excavations can be moved graphically, by clicking on them and dragging with the mouse; or you can use the arrow keys to move excavations in controlled horizontal or vertical increments. Contours are updated in real time as the boundaries are moved.
Strength factor contours updated in real time as excavation boundary is moved

Material properties (e.g. elastic, strength) and far field stress can be interactively modified using the sidebar input panel. As input parameters are changed, the analysis is immediately re-computed, to ensure that the analysis results always correspond to the current input data.
Principal stress (sigma 1) contours updated in real time as the in-situ stress orientation is modified

The real time stress analysis ability of Examine2D is due to the inherent computational speed of the boundary element method (for a 2-dimensional problem) combined with its implementation within the program (i.e. the unique integration of modeling, compute and analysis output developed specifically for Examine2D).
