Query Slice Data

The Query Slice Data Sliced Figure Icon option allows you to view detailed analysis results for individual slices in a sliding mass. In order to use Query Slice Data:

To Query Slice Data:

  1. Select Query Slice Data from the toolbar or the Query menu.
  2. You will see the Slice Data dialog, which prompts you to "Click on a slice to view slice data".
  3. Click on any slice, and the data for the slice will be displayed in the dialog.
  4. Force arrows will also be displayed on the slice, representing the various forces acting on the slice, such as slice weight, interslice forces and base forces.
  5. To view data for a different slice, click on any slice, and the data in the dialog, and on the screen, will be updated.
  6. When you are finished viewing slice data, you can close the dialog and exit the option, by selecting the X in the upper right corner of the dialog, or selecting the Done button.
  7. More features of the Slice Data dialog are described below.

Minimizing the Slice Data Dialog

Unlike a regular dialog, the Slice Data dialog can be "rolled-up" without closing the dialog, by selecting the "roll-up" 5 arrow button in the upper right corner of the dialog. This allows you to minimize the dialog so that you can view the whole screen, without exiting the Query Slice Data option. To restore the dialog to regular size, select the "roll-down" 6 arrow button.

The Slice Data dialog, can also be minimized / maximized, by double-clicking on the title bar of the dialog.

Hide Geometry / Show Geometry

The Hide Geometry button in the Slice Data dialog will hide the entire model, except the currently selected slice. You may find this useful in conjunction with the Zoom Slice option (see below), for screen captures, or to view the force arrows and values more clearly.

The Show Geometry button will restore the entire model to view, after using Hide Geometry.

Zoom Slice

The Zoom Slice button in the Slice Data dialog will zoom the currently selected slice to the middle of the view. This is a useful shortcut for getting a closer look at a selected slice. You may find it useful in conjunction with the Hide Geometry option described above. Also, remember that while the Slice Data dialog is on the screen, you can still use the Zoom and Pan options in the toolbar, to adjust the view, without exiting the Query Slice Data option.

Copy

The Copy button in the Slice Data dialog will copy the current slice data shown in the Slice Data dialog, to the Windows clipboard, where it can be pasted into another Windows application (e.g. for report writing etc.)
