The slope geometry in Swedge is defined by TWO planes referred to as the Slope and the Upper Face.
To define the slope plane orientations, enter the Dip and Dip Direction of the Slope Face and the Upper Face in the Input Data dialog.
Note that the Dip Directions of the Slope Face and Upper Face do not have to be the same. There is no restriction on the inclination of the crest of the slope (the line of intersection of the two slope planes).
If the crest of the slope overhangs the base, then you must select the Overhanging checkbox in the Input Data dialog, and enter appropriate Dip and Dip Direction for the slope planes. See the Overhanging Slope topic for more information.
For a Deterministic Analysis or a Combinations Analysis, the slope plane orientations are fixed, constant values. For a Probabilistic Analysis, it is possible to define statistical variability of the slope plane orientations.
The Use Slope Dip Direction checkbox can be used to ensure that the Dip Direction of the Upper Face is automatically set equal to the Dip Direction of the Slope Face. This option allows you to carry out a Sensitivity analysis of the slope orientation.
