The concept of excess pore pressure using the B-bar method can also be applied to unloading scenarios. If a load is removed quickly from a low permeability material, a “negative excess pore pressure” can be induced. In Slide, this can be used to simulate the pore pressure changes due to rapid drawdown of ponded water in earth dams.
