A Discharge Section in Slide
is simply a line segment which can be added to a groundwater model, through
which the steady state, volumetric flow rate, normal to the discharge
section, will be calculated during the groundwater analysis. The value
of the flow rate will be displayed in the Slide
Interpret program, when
you view the groundwater analysis results.
NOTE:
Any number of discharge sections can be added
to a model.
The line segment which defines a discharge section,
is completely independent of all other SLIDE modeling entities. It does
NOT get intersected with the model boundaries, and does NOT influence
the finite element mesh.
To add a discharge section:
Select Add Section
from the toolbar or the Discharge
menu.
Enter the two points defining the start and end
points of the discharge section. You can enter the points graphically
with the mouse (the Snap option can be used
to snap exactly to existing vertices), or you can enter the coordinates
in the prompt line using the keyboard.
After the second point is entered, the discharge
section will be added to the model, and you will automatically exit the
Add Section option.
The discharge section is displayed as a green
line.
